Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK

Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK is designed for both High Performance Concrete and Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) with long transportation times and extended workability requirements, very high water reduction and excellent flow characteristics. Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK can be combined with accelerating or retarding admixtures to achieve required compressive strengths and setting time.

Advantages

Water Reduction: Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK can be dosed in small amounts to obtain water reduction from 10–15 %, and will achieve water reduction of over 30 % at high dosage rates.   High Plasticity and neutral set: The superplasticizing action of Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK provides high slump, flowing concrete that maintains excellent workability, and may be placed with minimal or no vibration even at very low water cement ratios. Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK is mainly used for the following applications:

• The production of High Performance Concrete in hot weather and with extended transportation and workability requirements.
• Where high compressive strengths in early days for earlier removal of forms and structural use of concrete is required.
• Self-Compacting Concrete and highly flowable mixes with ultimate strengths requirements (over 100 Mpa)
• Concrete with reduced water cement ratios for more durable, dense concrete with reduced permeability.
• Soft placing and compaction characteristics
• High Strength Concrete pumped over long distances

Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK has been formulated to provide great water reduction, increased slump retention and easier pumpability. Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK does not  calcium chloride or any other intentionally added chlorides, and will not initiate or promote the corrosion of the steel reinforcing bars.

Shelf life

Shelf life when stored in dry warehouse conditions between 5 ° 35 °C is one year.

Storage conditions

Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK shall be stored at above 5 °C. If frozen, thaw and agitate thoroughly to return to normal state.

Application Information

 

Compatibility

Combination with other admixtures: Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK is highly effective as a single admixture or in combination with other admixtures in the Sika System, with the exclusion of Sikament NN. Please contact a Sika representative for further information.

Combination with SikaFume® : Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK is particularly well suited for use with SikaFume® because of its water reduction and slump retention capabilities.

Dispensing

Dry batching plant:

Load all the components with 80% of the mixing water and Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK, mix thoroughly for a minimum time of 60 seconds per cubic meter. Add the remaining 20% of batching water then.

Wet batching plant:

Sika® ViscoCrete®-140 SK may also be dispensed as an integral material during the regular admixture batching cycle of the concrete mixer.

Consumption

 

Recommended Dosage

Dosage rates will vary according to materials used, ambient conditions and the requirements of a specific project. Sika recommends dosage at 500–1000 ml/100 kg of cementitious for general concrete applications. In high strength and highly flowable concrete mixes the typical dosage ranges between 800 ml and 2000 ml/100kg of cementitious materials.

Dosage rates outside the recommended range may be used where specialized materials such as microsilica are specified, extreme ambient conditions are encountered or unusual project conditions require special consideration.
